Halcyon Times
What would it be like to live in Mayberry North Carolina back sometime around the 1960′s? Would people really have been as tranquil as portrayed in the hit TV show The Andy Griffith Show? Probably not, but what we do know is that people were far more tolerant of others then we are today and parents taught their children the difference between right and wrong through example and even taught them manners and respect in the same way.
As a society in general, we didn’t find the need to lock our neighbors out of our homes when we were gone or to put up fences to keep the neighbors or their kids at bay. Those neighbors didn’t feel the need to arm themselves or protest to freely carry loaded firearms into public places; the same places we would be taking our young children to shop or play.
Halcyon Days
“Halcyon days” refers to a period of time associated with peacefulness, calmness, or idyllic happiness. Perhaps things would have been better had we followed our parents advise. Just think of the differences in life today verses the life in the 60′s. Our people in general were still kind and considerate, loving and faithful, we were tolerant and understanding of individual differences. Laws were meant for all not just for the other guys.
Serendipity: The effect by which one accidentally stumbles upon something fortunate, especially while looking for something entirely unrelated.
